49 new applications across Tonbridge and Malling: 1,530 solar panels on the Tonbridge sorting office, five homes at Addington and a 10m mast in Aylesford.

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council validated 49 planning applications in the fortnight from 14 September. The biggest by far is a solar roof on the Royal Mail sorting office in Tonbridge. Eleven new homes are proposed across six sites, the largest being five at Addington.

The figures come from the council’s weekly lists for the weeks beginning 14 and 21 September, read on 25 September. The second week is still filling up, so more may appear. (Tonbridge and Malling planning register)

The ones to know about

  • 1,530 solar panels on the Tonbridge sorting office. Royal Mail’s building at 20 Vale Rise would get a 719.1kWp rooftop system. The application says it would cut 135 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent a year. It is a prior approval, so the council considers set matters such as design and external appearance rather than a full planning case. Comments to 8 October (26/01696/PDV14J).
  • Five homes at Addington. The site is land east and south of Jungle Cafe on London Road, the A20. The plans include parking, cycle parking and landscaping. Expected to be decided by officers. Comments to 6 October (26/01689/FL).
  • A 10m mast in Aylesford village. Cellnex UK wants a 10-metre tower at the telephone exchange on High Street, carrying nine antennas and a dish. Comments to 7 October (26/01697/FL).
  • An outlet shop on Vale Road. Part of the warehouse at 201 Vale Road, Tonbridge, would become a shop. The application calls it an “ancillary outlet shop”. Comments to 13 October (26/01737/FL).
  • Two new semis in Borough Green. A workshop and garage behind 79 Station Road would make way for two three-bed homes. It revises a scheme submitted last year. Comments to 12 October (26/01730/FL).
  • Leybourne pitches. An application on land opposite The Paddocks, Birling Road, seeks the “relocation of pitches 3 and 4 incorporating part change of use of land”. Comments to 14 October (26/01599/FL).
